balloon releases / races

According to my sources Balloon releases are going to be huuuuge in the UK this year, as they already are in America. over here in the UK they only tend to be popular with charity and corperate events but they are about to become massive in the consumer sector. With the olympics and diamond jubilee coming to our shores this summer theres plenty of celebrations going to be taking place and you can guarantee balloon releases will play a part.

Wishes Weddings & Celebrations (01744 630759 / 01744 808482) can supply EVERYTHING you need for your balloon release and deliver them to you inflated and ready to go with tags and ribbons, we'll stay and organise the release if you like.

50 x balloons £50
75 x Balloons £60
100 x Balloons £75

Weddings
I think theyre a really cool, thoughtful alternative as wedding favours. You can give all your guests their own balloon with a label, and they can write a message or wish for you and your futures together and send them off in unison into the heavens (or the universe if youre into cosmic ordering) it creates fabulous photo opportunities, gives a sense of event and occasion and lets guests get involved. It was all about chinese lanterns, but lets face it, theyre sooo last season and a little bit dangerous, the amount of times they flew back towards the crowd in a burning haze is frightening. Balloons are a much safer option, especially if theres alcohol involved or childern around.  Lovely alternative for as you leave the church for guests to stand and release balloons instead of throwing confetti too!

Kiddies parties
They're also brilliant for kids parties because children LOVE anything like that. releasing balloons into the sky and watching them all float away for miles and miles guessing whos balloon will go furthest and where they'll end up. you could even incorperate a "balloon race" placing a little card onto the balloon with details of the release and when people find them they'll contact you and tell you where theyve landed, the furthest away gets a prize!

Corperate / advertising
Balloon releases are a fantastic way to draw attention to a new business venture or to advertise a sale or event. Use the tags to spead your message! or simlpy give an event a sense of occasion!

Charity / fundraising
Not only will a balloon release raise the profile of your charity (for example people see hundreds of balloons floating up and wonder where theyre from and why) They also serve as a brilliant fund raising tool. Selling balloons for a balloon race allows you to make massive profits and it takes little time and effort, forget raffels, car boot sales and charity auctions, you can make money much easier and more fun!

Rememberance
Its all about celebrating the life of the person who has passed away and balloon releases can be a tasteful way of communicating your love for that person in the same way as flowers are used.  Messages can be attached to the balloons and sent to the heavens, ideal if its the loss of a child and there are other young children at the funeral because its a way of them reaching out and understanding. ive been to a funeral for a child where fireworks were used in the same way and it was very moving and symbollic (and also very very expensive). The balloons could be in the favourite colour of the deceased or the colours of their favourite football team etc...

Balloon release top tips!
  • Use a bright colour because the balloons stay visible for longer
  • Do it in daylight, its no good at night
  • Dont put long ribbons on them, birds can become tangled
  • Use a reputable company who can get the correct permissions from the civil aviation authority
  • Use helium - air filled balloons wouldnt float away
  • Dont use foiled balloons or ribbons they are very dangerous if get tangled in electricity wires
  • Take plenty of photographs and enjoy!!

Childrens Parties - whats hot for 2012

We all know that to kids, poularity is everything, and who wouldnt want to be a cool on trend parent? so when it comes to throwing your child a party its important to do them proud!
Which begs the question....

Whats hot on the childrens party scene for 2012?

These themes run from age 1 to teens.

Prince and Princess parties
For colour scheme i'd go with baby blue and baby pink with white but lilacs and lemons can work well too. For props think crowns and tiaras, party bags could contain fairy wands, bubbles, chocolate coins.....

Popstar parties
I'd go with bright bold clours for this theme, maybe green and purple or pink and black. For props toy microphones, karaoke, posters of pop stars like justin bieber, miley cirus, one direction, jls.....
party bags could contain a personally mixed cd from the birthday boy or girl, headphones, sweets and personalised pens or keyrings.

Willy Wonka
Go for a technicoloured dreamworld of bright colours (look no further than the movie for confirmation of this) A candy bar is a must, also maybe a candy floss or popcorn machine. A vpinata would also be really cool.

Cupcakes tea party
Pastel colours and polka dots are a must. Go for elegant cake stands, bunting etc...

Pirates
Black red and white work well for this theme, props could include toy swords and parrots. party bags should include swag like chocolate coins, eye patches & other treasures.

Faries
Pastel colours or fuscias and purples work well with this theme, opt for dreamy clusters like clouds with tulle swags to really give this theme an authentic twist.

Disney
I'd chose one particular charchter rather than going for everything disney and match your colour sceme to that character, so if its buzz lightyear go silvers and purples, minnie mouse go pinks and whites etc...

Football
Black, white and green are a must but why not incorperate your teams kit colour. You could ask all guests to dress up in football attire and for props you can use footballs, tropies etc.... party bags could include mini footballs, toy medals, football stickers etc...

Red Carpet hollywood
This is a bigger budget party, but there are so many amazing props out there it does come off a treat, bling is essential and burgandy and gold work well as colours. party goes should be invited to "dress to impress" so suits, tuxes & evening gowns.

hawaiian
Tropical colours like blues, yellows, greens and pinks work best. Think hula skirts and hawaiian shirts!

rock star
I'd go a bit grunge with this theme and use a lot of black against a shocking bright colour like orange or lime green.

Pamper & Make-over
This is a girlie girls theme so youve got to go with the princess pinks or lilacs. Party bags could include mini makeup items such as lipglosses, lollypops, cute keyrings or costume jewellry.

Wedding themes...part 2

Hi again,
Whilst im in the blogging spirit and 2012 wedding season is just around the corner I thought i'd write another blog about themes for weddings. there are just SO many to chose from I couldn't possibly leave it at 4. Plus i'm a bit giddy being a bride to be myself (i'm getting married in July but im keeping my lips sealed about our theme as I want it to be a big suprise for all my guests. All i will say is that we are going all out - but then i kind of have to because my reputation as a venue dresser is on the line....)

So, here's some more theme's for you Bride to be's to consider.... and please feel free to contact me  pinktink1983@hotmail.co.uk or 01744 630759 and i'll supply and set up anything you want. AND i do mean anything!!

Classic English Country theme:
If you’re thinking about pastel shades like lemon, baby pink, soft blue, lilac, light green & peach for your bridesmaid dresses, then an English country theme could be the one for you, it’s demure, elegant and classy.

Decor could include pastel seat sashes, swags and table runnerss matching your bridesmaid’s dresses, beautiful vintage style birdcages filled with candles or artificial flowers for your centrepieces, a butterfly theme running throughout on invitations / place cards / menu / order of service.  Silk petals instead of table confetti, beautiful organza favour bags matching your colour scheme, tea lights scattered on tables and of course beautiful balloons in arches and clusters.  As for music a harpist would fit perfectly.

Fairytale:
Most women dream of a fairytale princess wedding, so if you’ve got your heart set on the big ballerina style fairytale dress, the horse and carriage and the castle cake then you could compliment it with a fairytale theme in your decor  on your big day.  You don’t have to go all pink either, because silver, gold and lilac, lemon, baby blue and mint green can all work well with this theme too! For centrepieces I would recommend balloon clusters with organza swags, because they create the dreamy fantasy atmosphere. They’re soft, sweet and pretty.  Place cards could feature crowns for the men and tiaras for the ladies, rose petals scattered on the tables, fairytale castle tea lights, favour boxes with tiaras and crowns,  then add some butterflies to balloon ribbons and near the guest book.... you really could go on forever with this theme. I think white, baby pink and baby blue with a touch of silver look stunning for this theme, so much so that I had that colour scheme for my own engagement party.

Classic Ivory:
If you like to keep things elegant, clean and simple, you might opt for classic ivory as your theme. It doesn’t have to be just all boring white, you can incorporate gold, brown, beige, champagne and nude tones to add depth and elegance. Even a touch of black can add that "coco chanel" influence.  A classic ivory theme can be just as effective as all out glamour if done correctly. For minimal fuss but maximum impact ivory and gold go perfectly together, so that would be the perfect colour for seat sashes and table runners. An elegant cream candelabra as a centrepiece looks perfect, or how about lanterns or floating candles in bubble bowls? We can supply you with simple, classic balloons, swags and favour boxes that look pretty and elegant.

Winter Wonderland:
This theme is perfect if your wedding is between October and March.  You can create your own beautiful winter wonderland to rival any fairytale.  The colours I would recommend are Ice blue, silver and white, and opt for a snowflake theme running through.

For centrepieces I would opt for candles and mirrors, the nights are dark very early at this time of year and you can create a lovely warm romantic atmosphere. If you’re not into candles then I would suggest glass centre pieces filled with crystals to create the ice like look. Your favours should be seasonal, so instead of sugared almonds how about warming winter nip mints or miniature whiskies for the gents and gins or brandies for the ladies?  As for balloons go for impressive arches, foils and pearlised colours. Invitations, order of service and place cards can feature snowflake embellishments, as could your cake. Your table confetti can be a mixture of gems and snowflakes. How about an ice sculpture to really set the scene?

I'll blog again with more themes, idea's and inspiration soon if you want any help or advice please call me on 01744 630759 or my business partner (and mum) Joan 01744 808482.

Themes, colour schemes and styles

If you want to be really adventurous with your wedding you could add a bit more personality with a certain theme. Your wedding day should reflect your personalities; so think about yourselves and what represents you both best. This could be hearts, butterflies, stars,  a certain flower like a rose or lily or even a time of year you love like winter wonderland, summer country garden, Valentines or Christmas.

what's hot for 2012 wedding season,
The vintage theme has been huge this year and at this years wedding Fayre's Ive noticed a lot of lace but I think we can thank Kate Middleton and her beautiful Alexander McQueen designed dress for that!  Ruffles and sparkles were everywhere too.

As for colours for bridesmaids, well I've seen a lot of bright fuchsia pinks, corals, oranges & jade greens there's also some really lovely bright blue colours out there that are very striking. I even saw lime green - how 80's?

Venue style & Themes

Long rectangular tables and round tables are still firm favourites. Venues such as hotels and golf clubs are still top of the list but destination weddings are becoming increasingly more popular.

Vintage
It's all down to individual interpretation but when i think of styling a venue i think of our bird cages, butterflies, cupcakes & candles. Lace works well with this look so you could incorperate that into your napkin ties or favours? seat covers with shimmery sashes finish off the look nicely. For colours think creams & pastels. Very classy elegant theme. As for balloons i'd stick to simple dispays such as clusters of 3 and arches.

Nautical
Anchors away! The nautical look is all over the fashion world for 2012 and ive seen some great wedding items out there too. The colous are obviously navy blue and white although you could incorperate gold in there too. There's a lot you can do with this theme, but be careful not to go too tacky with it. Think lighthouses, anchors, little sailing boats, water features centrepieces and blue and white stripes, or glam it up with a cruise ship theme! You can have some fun with your balloons too, theres some amazing foils out there that we can source for you!

Sparkle
To create this look i'd think back to the TV series "footballers wives". Go for a no expense spared look with faux diamonds and pearls, bold colours and fabulous glassware centrepieces like our martini vases on mirrored plates (from £8). Colours that work well with this theme are jade green, fuchsia pink, purples and burgundy. Really go for the wow factor, this isnt a theme that you can go into half heartedly. You need seat covers, table runners, top table swags. For balloons theres no such thing as too much or too amazing, how about some balloon trees or roman columns? cloud 9 clusters, personalised foils and banners, a ballooon arch on the stage or over the buffet.

Regal
Im sure that like me you loved the royal wedding and wish you could have a day as spectacular, elegant and amazing, and in reality you can. with the right venue and a good imagination its achievable. I'd go for regal red and gold or silver maybe with a splash of royal blue. A horse and carriage is a must. Hire a couple of thrones for your reception & a red carpet to glide down outside your venue. Have candelabra centrepieces, rose petals scattered on your tables, bay trees, seat covers with red sashes, top table swags and elegant balloons such as our cloud 9 clusters or floating clouds over your top table.

I do hope this inspires you to have some fun creating a fabulous wedding.
